Our Services

  • A Binding Financial Agreement, commonly referred to as a Prenuptial Agreement or Prenup or Cohabitation Agreement is a legally binding way to safeguard your assets in the unfortunate event of separation. Whether you are about to marry, move in together or already in a de facto relationship, these agreements provide clarity on how your assets, liabilities, and financial resources will be divided.

Our experienced Gold Coast family lawyers can help you draft a strong, enforceable agreement tailored to your specific needs. We can also provide independent legal advice on agreements prepared by your spouse’s solicitor.

  • Separations & Divorce can be an emotionally challenging time, but our experienced Gold Coast family lawyers are here to guide you through the process and ensure everything is handled smoothly.

Whether you need assistance with filing your application, meeting legal requirements, or understanding your rights, we provide expert support every step of the way.

  • Child support, also known as child maintenance, refers to ongoing financial support provided by one parent to the other to help cover the costs of raising their children. This includes essential expenses such as food, housing, education, healthcare, and clothing.

As a parent, you are legally required to contribute to your child’s financial well-being until they reach 18 years of age. Both parents share this responsibility to ensure their children are properly cared for, even after separation or divorce.

  • Domestic violence goes beyond physical harm—it includes emotional, psychological, financial, sexual, and coercive abuse. Many victims may not realise they are experiencing domestic violence. Our compassionate legal team can guide you through this difficult time and help ensure your safety.

Unlike family law, domestic violence is governed by state legislation and is dealt with in the local Magistrates Court.

  • Parenting agreements can be one of the most emotionally challenging aspects of separation. At our Gold Coast based family law firm, we help parents establish clear, child-focused care arrangements that prioritise the best interests of their children.

In the preferential case parents can agree on how best to parent their children there can often be no need to legally complicate what is often a challenging new beginning for your family. By engaging Chesterton Legal Gold Coast Family Lawyers we can formalise your agreement you have come to with or without the assistance of the family relationship centre (a mandatory mediation process in contested parenting orders) to avoid filling unnecessary court appearances.

If you and your ex-partner cannot agree on custody, visitation, or parental responsibilities, our experienced Gold Coast family lawyers can guide you through negotiation, mediation, or Court proceedings to reach a resolution that works for your family.

Family’s can be complicated

That’s why Chesterton Law uses a straight to the point approach that simplifies the process so you can focus on what matters most.

Carlu appeared as a subject matter expert on Law Talks with Robyn Hyland on Radio 4CRB multiple times during her tenure as Senior Associate at Attwood Marshal’s.

Divorces later in life can fly under the radar, as people can wrongly assume that owing to having no minor children left in the home a separation is ‘straight forward’

When a couple separates later in life, there are different issues that come to the surface compared to those who separate in their 20s, 30s or 40s. Carlu’s experience in separations no matter the stage in life puts her in a unique position to best advise and assist her clients in moving forward with as few interruptions as possible.

“Jerry Hall has officially filed for divorce from Rupert Murdoch, six years after the pair married, after receiving an email from her husband communicating the relationship was over. Attwood Marshall Lawyers Family Law Senior Associate Carlu Booth discusses the complexities of a high net worth divorce, the intricacies involved in a property settlement, and whether the Murdoch divorce will impact the succession of his $26 billion empire.”
